If you haven’t noticed by now, I’m unapologetically all about the Bible. I say what Paul said, “I’m not ashamed of the Good News about Jesus Christ” (Romans 1:16). That is… the whole gospel. The unadulterated Word of God. Did you know that the longest chapter in the Bible is Psalm 119? Okay, you already knew that. But the longest chapter is ALL about the Word of God. I’m thinking there’s a reason for it, don’t you? I’m thinking that God wants us to know that His Word is what we need to bathe ourselves in.

If you are a part of this ministry, I’m guessing that you, too, are all about the Word of God. And that makes me so happy. If that’s true, then perhaps we need to make Psalm 119 our prayer. Today’s devotional is a little different… it’s a prayer I will be praying OUT LOUD and I hope you’ll join me. So don’t just read it… Pray it out loud and with meaning. Let the psalmist’s desires become our desires as well. Let’s go…

Oh, Lord…

Open my eyes to see the wonderful truths in your instructions (v. 18);
Help me to understand the meaning of your commandments (v. 27);
Give me eagerness for your laws (v. 36);
Give me life through your word (v. 37);
Renew my life with your goodness (v. 40);
Let me delight in your commands (47);
Help me to reflect at night on who you are, O LORD (v. 55);
Turn me to follow your laws (v. 59);
Let your word be a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path (v. 105);
Give me the discerning mind you promised (v. 169);

Let me encourage you to make this prayer a lot longer by using Psalm 119. By praying these words, it’s like we’re saying, “Lord, I love your Word. I want it to transform my life from the inside out. I want to be led by Your Word, come to know you more by your Word, and learn to trust you through Your Word. I hope this encourages you today.
