Did you know that heaven is a library of books? I think it’s worth our time to check them out. Here are five books to consider.

Book of Life! (Revelation 20:15; 21:27; Luke 10:19-21) This is the most important book of all. Our verse in Revelation speaks about it, as well as other passages. If you have put your faith in Jesus and received Him as Lord of your life, then your name has been recorded in this book… a book which gives us assurance of eternal life. The Bible tells us that at the Great White Throne Judgment (the judgment for unbelievers), the Book of Life will be opened, and Jesus will search for their name. If it’s not written in it, then they will face eternal condemnation. Aren’t you thankful that your name has been written in it?

Book of Remembrance! We read in Malachi 3:16: “Then those who feared the LORD spoke with one another. The LORD paid attention and heard them, and a book of remembrance was written before him of those who feared the LORD and esteemed his name.” Fearing Him means that you honor Him with your life, you submit to His will, you obey Him, and you worship Him. The names of those who esteemed His name will be written in this book.

Book of tears! Psalm 56:8 says, “You have kept count of my tossings; put my tears in your bottle. Are they not in your book?” This is a beautiful one. Every tear you have shed has been recorded in this book. I cannot count how many tears I’ve shed for some loved ones. This should warm each of our hearts… to know that God keeps count of all those tears.

Book of works and deeds! In Daniel’s vision of the end times, he said in Daniel 7: 10: “The court sat in judgment, and the books were opened.” And in Revelation 20:12: “And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened.” Let me clarify something… both judgments – The Judgment seat of Christ and the Great Throne Judgment will have books. They will be opened. For unbelievers, everything they did against God will be laid bare. But for believers, the books opened at the Judgment seat of Christ will reveal all the good works we did on this earth. Rewards will be given accordingly. I would say that we should strive to work for things that have eternal value because these are the works that will be rewarded.

Book of knowledge! Psalm 139:16 says, “You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book.” In other words, God began a book with your name on it before you were even born. And every day of your life was recorded in it. This speaks of the sovereignty of God. He’s in control of your life.

Take time today to ponder these books. Let this encourage you.
