This isn’t going to a lengthy post… just something I’ve been thinking about. The first verse of the Bible is packed with theological truth. “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” Hence, God created everything out of nothing. Not only did God create the heavens and the earth, He also created man.
So, if God is the creator, then we are subject to Him. He’s omnipotent (unlimited power and authority). He’s omnipresent (present everywhere at the same time). He’s omniscient (infinite knowledge or understanding). God is sovereign, which means that He is the supreme ruler. Basically, God is not limited by time, space, matter, or knowledge.
Therefore, God is in control, right? And if God is in control, then He has the final say on things like: gender, sex, marriage, love, the roles of men and women, the church, what’s right and wrong, etc. Ultimately, we cannot redefine what God has already designed. What He has purposed.
If we try to do it (as so many have, including pastors and leaders in the church), then we are ultimately slapping God in the face. We’re saying that our ideas are better than God’s design. Here’s the thing… it didn’t go well for God’s people in the Old Testament when they chose to rebel against God’s authority. And it certainly does not go well for us today. There are always consequences. Let me encourage you to submit to God’s authority, no matter what. Let’s let God have the final say
